Big Foot Gone Chevy

July 14th, 2010

I’ve been a fan of the Big Foot monster truck since I was a little kid.  I used to have Big Foot toys that I would use to roll over all of my hot wheels with.  Growing up in Kansas City, with Big Foot headquarters only a few hours away in Hazelwood, MO made the monster truck even more special to me.  Of course, its been a few years since I paid attention and I was recently surprised to learn Big Foot is now a Chevy.

Bob Chandler, the creator of Big Foot, virtually invented the lifted truck craze and certainly set off the monster truck craze when he performed the first ever car crush in 1981.  But it all started in 1975 when Chandler converted his personal Ford F250 with military axles and 48 inch terra tires into the lifted F250 that would become Big Foot.  At first he just used the truck for fun and to promote the family business but he soon began performing truck pulls at events around the country and it just continued to explode until it became the iconic figure we all know today.

But that iconic figure recently had a major change take place.  In 2008 after 35 years and over 15 different Ford Big Foots, Chandler converted to a Chevy Silverado.  The decision to change was simply a business decision.  Ford dropped Big Foot from sponsorship and Chevy came knocking with a new opportunity.  And it’s not just the body that changed.  The engine is now a Chevy as well.  Chandler said if you run a Chevy you run a Chevy motor.  He isn’t into brand mixing.

Reactions from fans have been mixed.  Understandably many people are upset that a change was made after all of these years.  In a couple truck forums some people were calling it criminal and a disgrace, saying Big Foot will and always should be a Ford.  Anything else is an abomination.  But others are more receptive.  Typically these are the folks that were Chevy fans to begin with.  “I liked Big Foot before, now I like it even more.”  One post in the forum stated.

Love it or hate it, it looks like the Chevy Big Foot era has begun and is here to stay.  Because really, how can make something this big disappear?

Buying An Inexpensive Hybrid Car

June 24th, 2010

Currently, there exist two technologies aimed at reducing the gasoline consumption of automobiles. The first technology is what is being used and developed by large automobile manufacturers. The second technology is not yet being used for mass production. The first type of fuel-friendly car is the one which runs partially on gasoline and partially on electricity. The electrical power used is also generated by a gasoline powered generator within the car.

On the whole, the price of a brand new gasoline-electric hybrid car falls below the average cost of cars in 2009 which is $27,958. While the more expensive brands can sell at up to $30,000, the cheaper ones sell for around $14,000. Even at those prices, the consumer stands to gain from getting more mileage from his fuel, up to 45 mpg for highways and 40 mpg for cities. With reduced fuel consumption, operation of these hybrid cars is cheaper and the overall costs of owning the car per year will be more inexpensive.

The second type of hybrid car that exists today is that which runs on a combination of gasoline and water. In this case, the water is not used to actually run the car but to improve the efficiency of the gasoline.

This type of car is not, as yet, being mass-manufactured. However, there are kits available for assembling your own gasoline-water mechanism at home. The resulting device is easily installed and taken out without having to alter the original mechanism of the car.

Satisfied consumers have reported an increase in mpg (miles per gallon) of up to double the mpg without using the device. There have also been comments about how quietly the car runs and how clean the motor oil becomes after using the gadget.

Probably the best deals on cheap hybrid cars can be availed of at government auctions. You may search for these websites on your favorite search engine. These used hybrid cars are going for greatly reduced prices because they are either confiscated or repossessed due to failure to pay taxes on them or to some other legality. The government usually seeks to get back only what the owner of the car owed them and this amount can often be dramatically less than the price the car is going at the dealer.

Of course, you will not be able to obtain a warranty or guarantee all the time, unless the car is still relatively new. But, considering everything else, the best place you can get an inexpensive car is from those auctions.

How To Find The Best 50cc Scooter For Your Needs

June 22nd, 2010

With the wide variety of gas scooters available, choosing the right one for your needs can take some research and patience. Before you launch your search, determine which features are most important to you. For instance, if fuel efficiency matters to you above all else, look at models with the most impressive gas mileage; most scooters offer about 70 miles per gallon, but top-of-the-line models can achieve 100 or more with prudent driving. If price is your main limitation, avoid the upscale, feature-packed scooters and focus your search on more basic models — which often cost hundreds of dollars less than their fancier counterparts. Choose a color scheme that catches your eye. And lastly, be sure to test drive any model you’re considering; only with the experience of riding will you know whether it’s truly the best 50cc scooter for you.

In the world of two-wheeled motor vehicles, the Vespa 50cc scooter is one of the most popular and trendy styles available. Along with being visually sleek and elegant, its quality performance is enough to win the heart of any driver. Offering speeds of up to 39 miles per hour, these vehicles can traverse an incredible 100 miles on a single gallon of gas — making them one of the most fuel efficient scooters on the market. The 4-stroke engines of Vespa scooters provide a smooth and quiet ride, making them perfect for anything from leisurely cruises around town to sluggish commutes to work. Although these scooters come with a higher price tag than most brands, their amazing gas mileage, aesthetic appeal, high-quality design, and easy operation makes them a top choice for anyone seeking a scooter.

One of the only downsides to scooters is their speed restrictions: most models can’t exceed 35 miles per hour, and a number of scooters lose even more velocity while traveling up an incline — which poses a problem for many commuters who want to get to work on time. Fortunately, you can find a fast 50cc scooter with a little research. Two particular models — the Aprilia SR50 and the Italia Jet Dragster — boast nearly twice the horsepower of most scooters, offering 4.1hp instead of 2hp. As a result, the Aprilia and Italia Jet Dragster can climb hills with more ease, travel above 40 miles per hour, and offer a quicker commute time. Although no 50cc scooter can attain the speeds cars and motorcycles can reach, these models are the cream of the scooter crop in terms of velocity and horsepower.

If you live in a sprawling urban jungle, navigating the streets in your car can be a nightmare — especially if rush-hour traffic brings hopelessly clogged intersections and miles of backed-up roads. If this describes your situation, 50cc scooters may be the solution to your driving woes. These compact vehicles are incredibly fuel efficient, traveling between 70 and 100 miles per gallon of gas — which saves you a significant amount of money if you’re idling in stop-and-go traffic. Because of their narrow, sleek design, scooters can weave between stopped cars on the road and maneuver through hopelessly congested streets. And while finding a roadside parking space in the city can be nearly impossible with a car, scooters are small and mobile enough to squeeze into cramped spots. For any driver living in a metropolitan area, a scooter may be a worthwhile investment.

Cheap Car Insurance for New Drivers is easily available

June 22nd, 2010

There are many insurance companies which provide cheap car insurance for new drivers. However, one will have to look for the best of the offers that are available in the market.

When it comes to car insurance of new drivers, it has been noticed that the insurance premium amount is the highest in a history of the insurance plans for that prospective customer. The reason this happens is because a new driver is considered to be a high risk customer. He/she has newly learned how to drive and with the enthusiasm that comes with the new talent acquisition, more often than not, the new driver will try and push the vehicle beyond its limit and hence will increase the risk of an incident and thereby increase the risk of claims and hence the insurance premium amount is calculated at a higher rate.

The second factor that affects a new driver is the lack of driving history. For Cheap Car Insurance for New Drivers it must be understood that a good driving history entails lesser premium, but over here with the lack of any driving history, the risk element is conclusive and is assessed to be the maximum and hence the premium amount goes higher because not only do the companies not know how much will you drive but also how will you drive.

Though this is one fact that the insurance companies do not divulge, yet where Cheap Car Insurance for New Drivers is concerned, there are some other insurance companies which have provided an alternative to it. The encourage new drivers to take a “defensive driving” course so that not only are the new drivers well acquainted with the traffic rules but also get a hands on experience how to drive safely in an otherwise dynamic environment and hence reduce the risk and the insurance premium amount.

Flashlights for Covenience and Security

June 21st, 2010

Flashlights are one of the most important tools during an emergency. It is an essential tool that can provide security and it is advised that everyone must have at least one flashlight in a household and in with your car automotive supplies.

You can buy one at your nearby appliance store or even the convenience store. However, types and models are restricted to average flashlights which only have short life spans. For a large selection of different types, the internet is the perfect site for it.

Decide what you are interested in buying. Your choices include:
- Rechargeable flashlights
- LED-style flashlights
- Waterproof flashlights
- Diving lights for sport dives

Some people have found online shopping to be very convenient for their needs. So, why not for purchasing flashlights, too? Here are some reasons why buying flashlights online is a choice not to be passed up.

•    You will be able to save up time and energy. Turn on your computer even in your pajamas and that’s it. In this cyber-marketplace, you go from store to store with just a click of a mouse. Save yourself the time and effort to go to the mall. Why walk a long way and make your feet sore when you can just sit back, relax and click and shop?

•    You are given a wide array of choices. The cyber marketplace is the biggest mall you will ever find, right in the comfort of your own home. Just key in the word flashlight in the search box and wham – various types and designs are waiting for you to be seen and be examined.

•    With the variety of choices you are presented with, they are categorized properly into different kinds. In a regular shopping center, when you inquire about a certain product, salesmen answer you alright, however they have a tendency to do sales talk and indirectly force you to buy it – NOW. In online shopping however, when searching for a specific model, product details are included without the annoying sales talk. You can finally hear yourself think and deliberate.

•    The flashlight or lantern you ordered will be delivered right in your front door. If you need more car gear, you can easily include additional items such as a GPS unit, in the same shipping box.

12v Fridge

June 17th, 2010

When you need to select a refrigerator for your car, the best choice by far is an energy efficient compression style 12v fridge.  This article will briefly address the main reasons way this fridge is the right choice for you.

12v Or 3-way Fridge

People shopping for a car fridge have multiple fridge styles to choose from.  The major types are those designed specifically for 12v, and those designed to run from multiple power sources.

A dedicated 12v fridge is specially designed to be very energy efficient when running from a car battery.  They function using an efficient compression style refrigeration technology, which is able to operate on terrain that is not level.  They are also able to incorporate freezers.

The alternative, a 3 way fridge has disadvantages for car use. Refrigerators that can be powered by propane – one of the power sources for a 3 way fridge – operate using an absorption style refrigeration technology.  These refrigerators must be operated on level terrain, and when operated using 12v DC are a tremendous battery drain.  Also, absorption fridges have a difficult time providing the ability to freezer, they are better at less extreme cooling.

So with a 12v fridge for your car you get – energy efficiency, ability to take off-road, and potential freezer capacity.  With a 3 way fridge for your car you would get – rapid battery drain, on-road use only, and poor cooling ability.

While a 3 way camping fridge is going to be cheaper than a 12v fridge, this is definitely one of those occasions you get what you pay for.  If you intend to make heavy use of a car fridge, a 12v fridge freezer is certainly your best option.  Be sure to check out the Waeco, Norcold and Engel model line-up and you should find a refrigerator that meets your needs.

Axle Stands – Why Use Them

June 16th, 2010

If you are going to be doing any work underneath you car you should make sure that it is properly supported before crawling under it. Often time’s people will use what ever they find handy to prop up the car thinking that it will keep them safe, but cement blocks have been known to crack and crumble under the weight of a car, and a stack of rims can slip and collapse letting the car fall.

It is easy now days to find safe and affordable axle stands which will hold the weight of the car allowing you to work under it in safety and comfort. Just use the jack to raise the car up and then place the axle stands under the car so that you can take some of the weight off of the jack and let the axle stands support the car. Most good axle stands will have either three or four legs to give it a stable base and a y shaped top that allows it to hold the axle or frame with out letting it slip. When the car is held up with the axle stands it should be solid and not wobbly, allowing you to work under the car safely.

Some people may say that if the jack is strong enough to jack up the car then it should be able to hold it, but if you stop and think about it the jack that they are talking about probable came with the car which means that if it is an older car it may be a bumper jack, or if a newer car maybe a scissor jack both of which are only made to raise the car high enough to change a tire, and then they are not very stable. Even a mechanics floor jack can have a seal break and let the car down in a hurry. So to be safe while working under your car be sure to get a good pair of axle stands, and use them, after all we want to be safe and not end up with damaged cars.

How to Inspect a Repossessed RV

June 8th, 2010

Since a repossessed RV was probably taken back by the lender during the first couple years of the loan, many are not very old. Because use tends to be seasonal and only for a few weeks each year, bank repo RVs typically are in good condition. Even if it looks nice and is fairly new, you still want to carefully inspect the motorhome before you decide to buy it. Carefully check the following:

Exterior

Their are many different types of repossessed rvs for sale. Look for rust, peeling paint, cracked or damaged windows, flat tires, and other indications that the RV has not been well-maintained. While minor repairs can be made easily, you don’t want to overlook any that suggest there may be bigger problems you can’t see.

Interior

Check thoroughly for any signs of water damage, which is expensive to fix and is likely more extensive than it first appears. Ceilings that are sagging down and paneling that is soft to the touch have been water-damaged. Look for mold and mildew as well. Also note what shape the upholstery is in. If it is thin and has holes, especially in a newer RV, that usually means it has been lived in for long periods at a time. An RV that has been lived in usually is in worse condition and will have more problems than those that were just used periodically each year.

Appliances/Fixtures

See if everything is in good working order. The faucet, toilet, shower, etc. should all be functioning properly. Make sure the refrigerator, lights, stove and other electric items are working. If many things are broken and seem excessively worn, they probably didn’t get regular maintenance and the RV may have been lived in extensively.

Major Systems

Check that the generator is functioning properly and hasn’t seen excessive use (another indication the RV has been lived in). Also try out the heating, cooling and water systems to make sure they are working right.

It is always a good idea to walk through the RV a second time and all the way around the outside to see if there is anything you may have missed the first time.

Drive Safely And Receive A Car Insurance Discount

June 8th, 2010

When one gets one’s car insurance done, the motor companies would calculate a premium basis a variety of factors and once your car is insured you will see that with good driving habits, you will see your premium go down gradually. There are other offers also that a car insurance company would advertise that will help you save money in the long run. One of the most popular of such measures is called the No Claims Bonus or the No Claims Discount as some would call it.

The No Claims Discount, as the term suggests, is the discount offered by an insurance company of no claims have been made by a motorist over a number of years. Most of the times, the bonus is offered and considered substantial if a driver will not have made any claims over a period of 4 years or more. This would entail that four years of safe driving makes one eligible for the 4 years No Claims Discount.

The reason why the bonus is offered because an insurance company considers you to be a driver with good driving habits if you have not made any claims over a period of four years and hence the discount is offered as a token of gesture to continue with the good practice. However, if a claim has been made within the period of 2 years, then the bonus amount is not considered by the insurer as it is considered negligible.

Going a step further to help the good drivers out, the car insurance companies have introduced a concept of Protected No Claims Bonus. The eligibility criterion for acquiring a Protected 4 years No Claims Discount is that a driver should not have made any motor insurance claims in the last 4 years. This ensures that of the driver makes a claim after having acquired the Protected No Claims Bonus, the discount that he is to be offered remains intact.

It is a popular insurance tool that is prominently prevalent and used by many cheap car insurance companies to woo customers and also educate them of the benefits of safe driving.

Awnings for Campervans Add To Traveling Enjoyment

June 7th, 2010

There is nothing like a trip out on the open road – free from the worries of everyday life.  No job, no housework, no errands to run.  Just you and the road and wherever that road may take you.  If you have a campervan and like to take it out for an extended vacation, then one option you may want to consider adding to increase your enjoyment when you are setting up camp is a campervan awning.  By having an awning that you can attach to the side of your van when you are parked at night, you can enjoy some private and sheltered outdoor space that’s all your own.

The concept of an awning for your camper, van or recreational vehicle is not new.  In fact, the way these awnings operate is fairly simple and yet they provide a great benefit when you are traveling on the open road.  The awnings generally attach easily to the side of the camper or van and then can be unfurled and secured with anchor posts that extend out from the awning to the ground.  This provides a covered area that protects occupants from the harsh rays of the sun and from rain as well, allowing you to spend more time outside in the fresh air, rather than having to stay cooped up in a rather small space inside the van.

Some awnings have additional options, such as having sides that can provide more privacy from travelers that have campsites nearby and the side panels on the awning can also protect against wind, as well as better protecting you from sun and rain.

And the great thing about an awning for you camper is that when you are done relaxing at your campsite and are ready to move on to your next destination, you can simply roll up or fold up the awning, store it away, and get on with your journey.

For more information about all types of awnings, as well as other portable covers, visit http://carportstentsandsheds.com/.

Do I Have to Get Expensive Motorcycle Insurance?

June 7th, 2010

When it comes to needing motorcycle insurance, the most expensive coverage is not always needed, nor is any special coverage needed. All motorcycle riders are encouraged to get coverage that is tailored to their needs, but nothing that is extraordinary. Insurance for a motorcycle is something that is purchased to help out in the event of an accident, theft or some other kind of damage. All the driver has to do is file a claim with the insurance company and that is it.

All owners of motorcycles are required to have at least the minimum type of insurance coverage to make sure they are legally able to drive on main roads and other kinds of highways. The insurance policy that the owner takes out on the motorcycle is going to cover the driver and other people that are listed on the policy. The coverage is going to be providing money for things such as any medical treatment, repairs that need to be done whether they are for public or private property, and it can also cover death benefits.

If you are wanting specialized coverage for any kind of event that can happen with a motorcycle, then you will need to have coverage that provides both liability and comprehensive coverage. Of course liability is the least expensive of the two, but comprehensive is covers the motorcycle rider and everyone else involved in the accident.

So the answer of course, is no, you do not need to get expensive motorcycle insurance coverage. You need to make sure that you have enough coverage that is good for any kind of accident and will cover anything. Just remember to take your time and talk it through with your insurance company for the motorcycle coverage. They can walk you through you certain situation and get you the coverage that is tailored to your needs. Remember not to take out to much coverage though, as it can get very expensive.

Preparing Your Car for a Quick Sell

June 4th, 2010

There comes a point and time when everyone needs to sell a car.  The common problem is how much time, effort and money do you put into getting it ready to sell?  There is a balance; you will want to make the car ready to sell without dropping to much time and money.  So here’s a few things to look at for sure, the ones that a must do no matter the shape of your vehicle.

First, clean it.  This may seem pretty obvious, but people often do a very poor job in this area.  Most people do a pretty good job cleaning the interior and exterior of the car, but area such as door jams and trunk liners normally go untouched.  The same thing goes for the engine itself and the trim around the hood.  For an experienced buyer they’ll look in these areas to see if they can really gauge how well you’ve taken care of it.

There are some areas where you’ll need to decide how much money to put into it, make sure that tire and windshield changes don’t detract from the money you can get.  If you spend $500 for new tires and windshield and it only will net you $200 more than that’s not a good use of funds.  However, if the car is a hazard and people won’t buy it because they can see the radials poking from the tires you may need to take the financial loss.  If it takes too long to sell the car or if someone wants you to knock the price down to cover the cost of new tires then you may just want to move forward with the new ones.  Though, you can consider purchasing used tires as a way to keep the cost down and provide something safe.

Overall, keep the project simple when it comes to prepping your car for sell.  If you go too overboard you’ll reach a point of diminishing returns.

Who You Are and Your Habits Determine Your Car Insurance Rates

June 3rd, 2010

In order for over 50 car insurance companies to come up with individual quotes for every single person, they need to know the basics and the details of each vehicle owner. The most important factors include driving records, marital status, sex, age, as well as the make and model of the automobile being driven. All of these play different roles in how no deposit car insurance costs are determined, and each provider values these variables another way. This means that researching three or four companies and requesting accurate estimates for the same exact coverage will yield completely different results because some car insurance carriers give large discounts to married couples but higher rates to male drivers.

Without all of the questions and answers to questions, car insurance providers have nothing to base their gatherings on and therefore have to basis for creating monthly costs. Just about all companies would go under if they completely trusted each and every driver with cheap and affordable rates regardless of how many accidents a vehicle owner may have been in before. This would amount to complete disaster, so car insurance companies must use a consistent formula that will assure they remain profitable while also being fair to all customers.

Do not underestimate the ability of discounts and savings in terms of car insurance rates either. Just as carriers look at driving records and other information, they also must take into consideration any discounts that have been requested and earned. For instance, having multiple vehicles under one policy, taking defensive driving courses and utilizing low annual mileage will make for some incredible discounts and noticeable savings. Make sure to take advantage of as many opportunities and possibilities of lower car insurance premiums because saving money is just like earning money. Overall, by understanding what companies look for in determining their rates allows for vehicle owners to put their effort into things that will save them the most money.

Cheap Car Insurance In Ireland

June 2nd, 2010

Insurance is something that will save the day if you are in an accident or situation. After all, you will not want to deal with the stress of dealing with repairs yourself. Having a solid insurance plan means that you will always have the support you need when it comes time to dealing with an accident or emergency. However, insurance is not free. You are not going to get something for nothing. This is why it is so important to really shop around so that you can find the very best cheap car insurance in Ireland. The following are some tips for how to score affordable yet effective insurance.

Before you start shopping around for cheap car insurance in Ireland, take the time to ask for recommendations from loved ones. They or someone they know will no doubt be a great resource when it comes time to compiling a list of possibilities. Ask them about everything from the price of the insurance plans themselves to the process of filing and receiving a claim. The more you know about a company and its services, the more likely it is that you will find a policy and group that is right for you.

Next, use a price comparison website so that you can compare prices side by side. This will help you see what different plans have to offer you for what prices. By looking to see what is included in an insurance plan, you can then be sure that you are making the best decision about which is cheapest. Lastly, remember that discounts are your best friends. Look to see if you qualify for any discounts from the organization or because of your age, driving record, or affiliation with another group. Every bit counts when it comes to looking for cheap car insurance in Ireland.

Consider Bank Repossessed Cars When Vehicle Shopping

May 31st, 2010

If you have been prowling the automobile market for some time searching for the right car for you, but have not been able to purchase one due to costs, bank repossessed cars for sale may be your answer. This can also save you the time and money it costs to deal with a car salesman. Repossessed vehicles available for purchase have increased exponentially after the start of the economic down turn.

Unable to make the loan payments, banks have taken back their vehicles from clients who were unable to keep up payments. Once confiscated these banks want to get rid of the vehicle as soon as possible. Reselling the car quickly saves them the costs of maintenance and allows them to make some money off of a car that would otherwise be a total monetary loss for these banks.

If you are interested in purchasing a repossessed vehicle you can do so either by attending a public auction, or an online auction. Public auctions are attended by professionals who want to buy these cars and resell them on their lots for a profit.

This is their specialization because their business depends on these types of auctions. This means they are familiar with the process and know what they are doing. When beginning in this field you may want to consider online auctions as an alternative.

Online auctions may very well better prepare you for your purchase. You can research the vehicle of your choice thoroughly online. The pressures of attending a live auction are non-existent in this case. You will not be up against professional bidders, which gives you a better chance of scoring the car your really want.

Your computer screen is your gateway to a wider selection of used repo cars for sale at a much lower price. Find out what the make and model that interests you typically resells for, as well as owner history. This information and more will give you the power to control your decision on the quality of the bank repossessed cars you view and eventually purchase.

Is Your Garage Floor a Thing of Beauty?

May 29th, 2010

Most garage floors are far from being something to admire. Most people drive the car in and out of the garage and rarely give it another thought, except as a place to dump excess junk from the house. However, you can have a great looking garage at very little expense and you will be surprised at how much it will cheer you up, when you come home to a clean and tidy garage. It really set your house apart from the other houses with junk filled garages, where you can’t even see the floor or sometimes even park the car there.

To get your garage floor and whole garage looking good, here are the steps to take.

1. Sort Out the Junk

The first task is to clear the garage floor so that you can actually see it. If there are things, which belong in the garage or which you want to permanently store there, purchase some appropriate storage. Use racks on the walls and industrial shelving, which are low cost ways of tidying things up. Get rid of any other items, which have been dumped there from the house.

2. Sort Out the Floor

Garage floors become dented over time and get covered in oil stains. Filling the cracks and dents and then painting the floor with special garage floor paint can make a huge difference to the look of your garage. Alternatively, you could use rubber floor matting, which is designed especially for garages, however that will be more expensive.

3. Sort Out the Doors

Once the inside of your garage has been sorted out, think about giving the garage door a makeover. This can be anything from a coat of paint to a new set of electronic doors, which open automatically when you approach, giving you access to your beautiful new garage without having to get out of your car.

Things That the Car Insurer Will Not Tell

May 27th, 2010

There are various offers available for comprehensive car insurance that covers any damages sustained by the vehicles and any liabilities of third parties. There are a huge number of players in the market who provide comprehensive cover at very lucrative premium rates. In fact there are companies who offer a lesser premium to women drivers than any men drivers for the same coverage. They cite statistics as the reason for this discount, quoting figures which indicate that women are better drivers than men. These statistics are not company driven but gathered from independent surveys done by other organizations. Hence the claim of these organizations for being fair is generally accepted.

But more often than not, they do not reveal this clause if a prospective customer is not aware of it and ends up paying the same amount of premium as a male counterpart under the same circumstances.

Car insurance coverage is most of the times is against accidental damage, theft, fire and liabilities of third parties. Yet if one has to make a claim, instances have been witnessed where claims have been denied on grounds that the clauses were not made clear while selling the insurance. For example, it is a common practice that of a third party driving a vehicle is involved in an accident and the vehicle sustains damage, then as per the rule, it’s the third party who is liable to pay for the damages before the claims are presented to the insurance company.

Also, insurance premium is higher for drivers who have been found to be involved in frequent traffic infringements which include speeding, jumping lights etc. This is also a clause that is not revealed as a reason for high insurance and there are times that drivers with good driving habits also end up paying a high premium just because they were not aware of this clause and hence did not raise objections.

Hence it is important that all insurance holders do their homework before accepting a new policy.
