Go Kart Frames

A picture is best admired in a frame. But in the case of go karts, the frame does a lot more responsibility. More than holding the other parts in place, it basically is responsible for the safety of the driver and boosts competence during the race. A frame can be made of welded iron although some manufacturers have come up with different ideas as to the material of a go cart frame. Fiberglass and lighter weight materials are often used especially in go kart racing to give the driver an advantage being much lighter than metals.

The proportion of the front and rear rails is also an important thing. This will depend largely on the kind of track. A longer rear rail is needed for dirt track and the reverse is true for concrete and asphalt tracks. In addition, right tire traction is also a major thing. The tire traction has to go with the flexibility of the entire frame in order to avoid accidents and loose parts.

Durability and longevity are two of the most important words for go kart frames. Not only will it ensure an excellent well built go kart, but will more than anything, give the owner the chance to look into the other aesthetic aspects of his craft. A fiber glass seat often complements a good frame. The seat has to be placed comfortably deep and complete with side support padding. A roll cage may be added although some karts have excluded it in the confidence that karts do not generally flip over. Off roading go kart frames more often than not have a roll cage built in for obvious reasons.

In a racing environment less is more with regard to the frame and its surrounding since faster and lighter are the norm. You can find a frame at local dealers but more often than not you will have to get online and find a go cart manufacturer to build or send you one ready made.
